Poem Two: To Be A Girl

To Be a Girl
We were born to watch tears in rewind,
Wanting them to zoom back up our faces.
We were born to kill a man with the word friend
No bullets, just doll, chick and babe.
We were born to write poetry in the dark,
Embracing only the dusty corners of our mind.

When really, we are the metal to the magnets
Of our own desire – gemstones and magpies
Amidst our hallows.
